Mayor Barrett Recognized Nationally For Fatherhood Initiative
MILWAUKEE, WI — Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett will be honored by the National Fatherhood Initiative with a Community Impact Award during a ceremony in Washington, D.C. Mayor Barrett will receive the award on Tuesday, April 29 for his vision and leadership in establishing the Milwaukee Fatherhood Initiative (MFI), the Initiative’s positive impact on the Milwaukee community and for his dedication and leadership in his most important role – a father.
“This year’s winners have demonstrated a devotion to fatherhood that is transforming the way our nation views the roles of fathers in children’s lives,” said Roland C. Warren, president, National Fatherhood Initiative.
Mayor Barrett is one of several men being recognized during the 11th Annual Fatherhood Awards Gala at the Grand Hyatt Washington.
“I am humbled by this recognition. It is not every day you are esteemed for doing what is right,” said Mayor Tom Barrett when learning of his award. “Being presented with the Community Impact Award is truly an honor and one that I will always cherish. Thank you to the National Fatherhood Initiative for presenting me with this prestigious award.”
Northwestern Mutual is also being recognized during the National Fatherhood Awards Gala for showcasing father-friendly marketing campaigns.
“It’s great to see Mayor Barrett being recognized by the NFI for his commitment to the Milwaukee Fatherhood Initiative and his role as a father,” said Terence Ray, executive director of the Milwaukee Fatherhood Initiative. “These past few years, the MFI has garnered significant support from every aspect of the community and the Community Impact Award is a huge thank you to not only Mayor Barrett, but to every supporter, volunteer and sponsor of the MFI.”
